Scott Mayo est un saxophoniste américain qui a joué, entre autres, avec Earth Wind & Fire, Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, etc... En tant que saxophoniste moi-même, je dois reconnaître être un fan de cet extraodinaire musicien. J'ai notamment en tête un solo avec Earth Wind & Fire sur le disque Plugged in and live dans le morceau "Reasons". Je suis en contact avec lui depuis quelques années et, dans le cadre de mon projet "Portraits d'artistes", je lui ai demandé si je pouvais faire une petite série d'images de lui... et il a gentiment accepté, m'indiquant qu'il était lui-même fan de mes photos! Wouah!! Ainsi, de passage à Paris, lors de sa tournée avec Rickie Lee Jones, j'ai pu passer une soirée très sympathique avec lui après le concert et nous nous sommes promenés dans Paris by night jusqu'à une heure avancée de la nuit à faire la tournée des bars et des bistrots et à arpenter les quais de la Seine, déserts en ce dimanche soir. J'ai ainsi pu prendre de façon très décontractée (pas comme une séance photo) quelques images, dont celle-ci, une des dernières de la soirée, prise sur le Pont au Double, près de Notre Dame..
Ce fût une rencontre fort sympathique avec cet excellent musicien aussi bon dans la vie qu'il l'est dans sa musique. Thank you Scott! ;-)
Scott Mayo is an american saxophonist who played, among others, with Earth Wind & Fire, Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, etc... As a sax player myself, i must say i'm a fan of this amazing musician. I have especially in mind a beautiful solo on the song "Reasons" (EWF Plugged in and live). I'm in touch with Scott for a few years now and, as i'm going further with my photo essay "Portraits d'artistes", i asked him if i could take a few photographs of him for this essay, which he kindly agreed, telling he was himself liking my Photography. Wow. So, in Paris, as he was touring with Rickie Lee Jones, i was lucky to spend a very friendly evening with him after the show and until a very late hour in the night, going from bar to bar and walking beside the Seine river on the quays, deserted on this sunday night. I could then take in a very relax way (not like a real photo shooting) some pictures, like this one which is one of the last images of the night, taken on the "Pont au double" bridge, beside Notre Dame cathedral.
It truely was a very nice meeting with this excellent musician, as good as a human being as he is with his music. Thanks Scott! ;-)
